Nixon in San Francisco

Tom Wright
Director of Artistic Planning

What a wonderful trip to San Francisco. Last night was opening night of San Francisco Opera’s Nixon in China.
It was a very special night for Vancouver Opera as it was our production, created for the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, that San Francisco Opera General Director David Gockley chose to use.

Also, making the night special was seeing our creative team led by Director Michael Cavanagh. Set Designer Erhard Rom, Costume Designer Parvin Mirhady and Choreographer Wen Wei Wang onstage for bows.

Composer John Adams was also in attendance as he lives in Berkeley. It was an honour to have been part of the production and Vancouver Opera should be very proud of this moment.
